Originally from California, pop artist Alas De Liona studied abroad in Scotland. She fell in love with the city and now calls Edinburgh her home. She has released her dreamy new single “Violet” which is the second single from her upcoming album Gravity of Gold, set to release September 13th of this year.
The song’s production is soft and ethereal, capturing this lighter than air feeling. De Liona shared her goal for the song’s sound was to be like “replaying conversations on a loop before sleep.” Her lyricism is breathtaking, painting pictures like “I take the stairs / Somehow, I’m creeping through a nightmare / And you’re there.”
While de Liona’s vocals are emotional and soft, they are not small. She cleverly lets her voice play a part as both the lead and an instrument. The way it all blends and bleeds together is captivating.
