“A Hidden Peace” is the newest EP from Mike A & The Prisoners of Routine. This band brings heart and passion to their instrumentation and that is apparent throughout the course of their songs. The first song, “Walk Away” is filled with heavy guitar solos and is what really makes the song the epitome of strength and wonder.
With “Never Free”, the band starts strong with vocals and lets the instrumentals follow. I loved the switch of this production tactic and thought the song showed a lot of versatile moments in between the harmonic value. The vocals were nothing short of passionate and really connected with the lyrics they were singing.
“Jading the Heart” also starts off strong and connects with the audience in a way that brings emotion to a new level. Their connection to the lyrics is more fun loving than preaching a message. “One and Done” is more light hearted and fun loving. Finally, the EP ends with “How Long”, and acoustic version and a great contrast to the instrumental heavy songs that carry before it.
“A Hidden Peace” has moments of reflection beneath the intensity of the instrumentation. You can feel the honesty between the vocals and their connection with the lyrics. A fun EP where each song flows well into each other.
