Opening with a catchy synth melody, “Wait For Rain” is an alternative rock track that combines classic rock sounds with contemporary elements, showing The Sea At Midnight’s unique style. The strong instrumentation lets the lyrics stand out, and lines like “empty wells and taps won’t run” allude to the droughts and ensuing wildfires that happen as a result of climate change.
Though most people are aware of this phenomenon, and the havoc it is wreaking on our planet, it is an overwhelming problem to combat and it can be difficult to feel like you can make any difference on a personal level. The Sea At Midnight captures this perfectly in the chorus of this track, singing “I feel so helpless, what can I do? Wait for rain.” Sometimes it feels like the only thing you’re capable of doing is waiting and hoping.
