“The Moons of Saturn” by Andi Fins is an alt rock EP that blends catchy pop melodies with indie arrangements for a fresh and invigorating listening experience. Thrumming bass, captivating vocal melodies, and satisfying arrangements build an impactful EP through these four songs. Andi Fins displays his artistry through unpredictable melodies and fun instrumentation.
The EP opens with the title track, using tapping rhythms, ear candy electric guitar, and layered vocal hooks to create an uptempo track about not being able to communicate with someone. It’s always frustrating to be around someone who won’t say what they mean, and who always seems to be performing. With lines like “I can’t get the message,” “tell me who you really are,” and “I can’t deal with tricky patterns,” we can clearly see how tired Fins is with this person, and how desperate he is to understand where their authenticity is- or if it even exists. This song is likely relatable to most people, and whether that bad communicator is a friend, a partner, a family member, or even yourself, the grooving sonics of this song offer a place to feel and release your frustration.
The closing track of the EP, “i want i want” is another standout on the EP. Bass and electronic synth move together, offering catchy walking melodies as the backbone of the song. Though the track starts sparse, the chorus opens up into a wide and dancing space, with sliding guitars and rhythmic shakers that are sure to get you moving.
