“Light It” by The Tano Jones Revelry

Champions of the Troubadour spirit, Midwest folk-rock outfit The Tano Jones Revelry has spent the past few years together perfecting their craft and winning the hearts of fans nationwide. With a sound that feels as soulful as any classic Americana masterpiece while still demonstrating an upbeat influence from modern rock and jazz, the project strives to elate listeners while delivering music with a wholesome and unifying message. Their latest single “Light It (lit)” speaks volumes to these abilities as it transports fans to a place of euphoria and safety with every verse.

The piece begins with a funky and rhythmic percussive overture that immediately sets the tone for the music ahead and puts listeners in a mood to absorb this anthem at face value. After a few bars, the vocals appear to begin the narrative with the opening line “Take me where you want to, do with me what you will. Tonight could last forever, to overcome the fear.” We are immediately sucked in by the smooth quality of the lead vocals and elating gospel style of the backing vocals.

At its core, the record embodies the rush of serotonin felt in the early stages of developing feelings that turn into real love, and it exudes these sentiments in spades at every moment. Played passionately to reflect the strongest feelings of excitement, but with a tenderness that allows the audience to be whisked away in the happiness all around them, the single allows listeners to be unashamedly happy with all they have to look forward to.
