“Sometimes We Arrive At The Short Fall” by Creativity Nativity Scene is an enveloping and introspective five song EP. Creativity Nativity Scene is a project created by Adam Lloyd Davis, a multi-faceted artist from Australia. All of the music under this project was created by Davis solely using various apps on his smartphone. The high quality work recorded and produced at home in this unconventional way is a testament to Davis’ clear artistic vision and immense talent. 

During an intense and unexpected illness, Davis turned to music and creativity. These tracks are filled with ambient synth textures, melodic instrumentation that is both acoustic and electronic, and unique rhythms. Each song has an unpredictable and exciting form that makes you continuously anticipate what is coming next. The opening track, “The Prophet,” is based around choral vocal pads and dynamic strings. The drum beat is uplifting and energetic, offering a perfect introduction to the eclectic and enthralling sound of Creativity Nativity Scene.

Another stand out song on the EP is the title track, which closes the body of work with an atmospheric synth soundscape that builds throughout the song. Eerie sonic textures, ominous and muted drums, and layered strings swirl through your ears, pulling you in different directions to keep you on your toes. This EP is entirely instrumental, yet still tells clear narratives of wonder and melancholy, joy and wandering. The lack of lyrics also allows you to fully sink into the songs and apply your own meaning to them, providing a one of a kind listening experience.
