Artist Interview: “Dreams” by Books Of Moods

Q: “Dreams” has uplifting instrumentation and a compelling narrative. Tell us about the creative process behind this song.

BOOKS OF MOODS: “Dreams” started with a series of guitar rhythms and melodic riffs I wrote a while ago. Once I began putting them together, they gave me a clear direction for the song’s mood — and from there, the lyrics naturally followed.

Originally, I imagined it as a track called “Morning Coffee,” inspired by a couple sharing a quiet moment in bed with coffee — something simple and intimate. But that moment felt too short-lived. So I shifted the idea toward something bigger: Dreams — a feeling that stretches beyond just one moment, into something timeless, both day and night.

Musically, I wanted the tempo to feel uplifting and passionate, like love in motion. The drums drive that energy forward, supported by layered guitars. The synths add a nostalgic, cozy texture, while the lead vocals act as a bridge between all the elements. And the backing vocal choirs help carry that dreamy, floating vibe throughout the track.

Q: Was the story of “Dreams” inspired by any real life experiences?

BOOKS OF MOODS: I do — I guess I’m a romantic and a bit of a dreamer. The feeling behind “Dreams” came very naturally, almost as if the guitar melodies themselves were telling me, this is a love song. Not just any love song, but one about the rush, the intensity, and the magic of instant connection. My perception of love is tied closely to that sense of wonder — and I tried to reflect that in the music and lyrics.

Q: Who would you most like to collaborate with, if it could be anyone in the world?

BOOKS OF MOODS: There are so many artists I admire, but the one that comes to mind right now is Marc Demarco. I’ve listened to “Still Beating” on repeat — his songwriting has this dreamy, nostalgic touch that really speaks to me. He captures emotion in a subtle, raw way that very few artists can, and I’d love to see what kind of atmosphere we could create together.

Q: In your own words, how would you describe the music that you typically create?

BOOKS OF MOODSMy music is a blend of nostalgia, melancholy, and dreaminess — rooted in influences from the ’60s and ’70s like The Beatles and David Bowie, but also shaped by more recent acts like Arcade Fire, Crumb, and SALES. It often floats between art rock, indie rock, and pop, creating a space that feels both familiar and otherworldly.

Q: What is coming up next for you?

BOOKS OF MOODS: I’ve got an 11-track album ready to go — I’m planning to release one song every month. Alongside the music, I want to explore more visual content to bring the project to life and connect with more listeners. I’m also already working on a second album and developing new singles, so there’s a lot more to come.
