“Battlefield“ by Loudness Wars

“Battlefield” by Loudness Wars is a grungy rock tune that explores the tumultuous feelings that come with an unsteady relationship. Loudness Wars is an innovative band from England that draws on classic sounds of alternative rock while adding their own unique flavor to their arrangements. It is clear that this band has a very focused artistic vision, and you can feel it in the satisfying interplay between all of the different layers of the arrangement.

Steady drums and catchy electric guitars build the backbone of the song, carrying you through the track while offering slight shifts in energy every so often that work to keep you hooked. The chorus is especially energetic, soaring across your ears and providing an enveloping atmosphere. Towards the end of the song, there is a captivating instrumental section that reminds you of iconic 90s rock tunes, especially with the riveting electric guitar that is riffing and heightening the energy. The rhythm twists and turns through the breakdown, with unique drum textures beginning to hit as the vocal comes back in. The dynamic instrumentation keeps you invested from start to finish and will easily have you grooving along. 

Lyrics like “love is a battlefield” and “without you, I’m something, without you, I’m nothing” tell us that the narrator is really struggling with this relationship. He isn’t happy with this person, but he’s certainly not happy without them. These lines are repeated many times throughout the track, driving home the confusion and desperation that the narrator is experiencing.
