“God Bless” by Saint Nick the Lesser

The pride of their hometown of Upland, indie rock artist Saint Nick the Lesser has emerged from the studio with their most recent collection of music that makes an immediate impression on their growing fanbase, possibly none as strongly as their most recent release “God Bless.” A lyrically-motivated track to its core, the single gives a sarcastic and rebellious perspective of the political state and prioritization of safety over personal privacy. Introspective and just cheeky enough to get its point across, the track proves itself as a shining example of the artist’s lyrical abilities and proclivity to take a stand by their beliefs.

The track begins with a resonant and emphatic acoustic guitar that strums with a passion reflecting the artist’s intensity. Quick to begin the narrative crux of the music, the vocals appear soon after, as the artist bellows the opening line “Every night I pray to God and thank the heaves up above that someone’s watching over me, oh yeah.” By the introduction to the melody, the titular lyrics “God Bless the NSA” drive the artist’s point home and we feel immersed in the world of their thesis.

Walking the line between satire and overt observational commentary, the track makes a poignant plea toward the ideals of reevaluating the world around us, delivered through the medium of a catchy and memorable earworm.

Having given fans such an identifiable example of their tonality so early in their musical career, fans can only wait with anticipation to see what could possibly be coming from their imagination next.
