Review & Press Interview: “Anxiety” byJules

Jules delivers an extraordinarily vulnerable, high-impact release with “Anxiety,” a raw, unfiltered exploration of internal psychological struggle set against a dark, atmospheric electro-pop backdrop. The song utilizes pulsing basslines, spacey reverb tails, and unpredictable percussive shifts to musically mirror the chaotic physical and mental sensation of an anxiety attack.

Jules’s vocal performance is deeply compelling and emotionally charged with alternating between hushed, intimate whisper-tones in the verses and raw, soaring vocal belts during the dramatic chorus. The songwriting is strikingly honest and brave, offering an unfiltered look at mental health struggles that resonates with profound empathy and human connection.

Rather than shying away from the discomfort of the topic, Jules leans into the tension, creating a sonic landscape that feels both claustrophobic and deeply cathartic as the chorus breaks wide open. The production balances dark synth-wave aesthetics with modern pop sensibilities, ensuring that the song’s heavy emotional weight is carried by an engaging, memorable melody that stays with the listener. “Anxiety” is a masterclass in turning personal pain into powerful, atmospheric art.

Jules delivers a tour de force performance that builds an immediate, deeply meaningful connection with the audience, establishing an artistic voice defined by courage, atmospheric depth, and raw pop power. The spatial audio layering and wide reverb pans surround the listener in warmth, ensuring that every quiet confession and soaring belt lands with maximum resonance.

Press Q&A with Jules

Q: “Anxiety” tackles a deeply personal theme with incredible honesty. What specific mindset or moment sparked the creation of this track?

JULES: Honestly I came up with this concept when I was sitting in a waiting room for an appointment that I was particularly anxious about. I remember telling myself that “anxiety” is just a lie. Then, as any songwriter does, I started brainstorming with this idea of what anxiety tells me and what if “anxiety” was personified as an ex? What would they say, what would they do? And that’s what sparked it.

Q: The sonic landscape of “Anxiety” shifts beautifully alongside the lyrics. How did you approach the production choices to reflect the inner motion of the song?

JULES: The production definitely took a second. Initially when I wrote this concept, I thought the main instrument would be a guitar. But when I was in a session with my producer Sam Bierman he started messing with an arpeggiated synth-and all of a sudden I started singing this verse idea over it.

Q: Sharing intimate feelings through music can be daunting. Did writing and recording “Anxiety” bring you a sense of relief or emotional closure?

JULES: Absolutely, I feel like that’s why music is so therapeutic. I think calling anxiety out-almost by name and personified-makes you realize how much power you have.

Q: For listeners discovering you for the first time through this release, how does “Anxiety” represent your overarching style and artistic vision?

JULES: Anxiety is just one piece of the puzzle with a project I’m working on called “The Waiting Room”. I want my new listeners to realize that this is part of something much bigger. The sounds being used-like the synths, guitar, and vocals-are sounds I’ve used in a lot of music.

Q:What is the most meaningful reaction or message you’ve received from a fan who resonated with “Anxiety”?

JULES: One fan commented that anxiety torments them with the “would’ve could’ve and should’ve’s” like I mention in the first verse. I instantly knew they understood it.

Q:What can your growing fanbase expect next from Jules in terms of new music, visual projects, or live performances?

JULES: Like I mentioned, there’s a project called “The Waiting Room” that will be released in the new few months with the rollout of new singles. Really excited for it!
