Coming from Tacoma, WA is 48 Degrees North, a progressive pop rock five piece band. The group consists of Aidan as lead vocalist, Manuel on keys, guitarist Anand, Hunter as the bassist, and drummer Alonso. Releasing their first single in 2018, the group was founded in a dormitory bedroom at the University of Puget Sound.
According to the group, their second single of 2022 “Sleeping Alone” observes the lopsided unraveling of a relationship through eyes half-open in a cold bed. No relationship is perfect, they will always have its ups and downs and sometimes it can be frustrating, confusing or even discouraging.
In the midst of fight, you may be angry with your partner but that doesn’t mean you want to be done with them forever. “Sleeping Alone” lyrically captures that feeling of wondering what the next move is. This soulful song will have you deep in your emotions.
The group meshes well together, the keys and the drums keep the song upbeat and light, while vocals, bass and guitar provide a more soulful side, it is easy to get warped in by Aidans vocals. 48 Degrees North is a band that you don’t want to miss out on, “Sleeping Alone” will be stuck in your head for hours after you hear it. It is catchy and relatable, 48 Degrees North is definitely doing everything right.
