“Altar” By Peter Stone

“Altar” is a true treat to the ears. Peter Stone puts his heart and soul into an album that is simply a lyrical masterpiece. The way each song molds into the next is just one way that this record really transcends deeper than most in the indie-folk realm. Peter Stone clearly is not afraid to showcase his emotions and he does so effortlessly in “Altar”.

“The Altar” starts off with Courtyard – a love song that seems to have been given influence from a love letter the artist maybe wrote in the past. This song is brutally honest, with moments of reflection that are felt on a level of the subconscious. He presents things in this song that most are too self conscious to say out loud, and that is what I simply loved most about it.

Listening to this album is like peaking into the artist’s personal archive of experiences regarding loneliness, love, and change. Songs like “Your Can” and “Drinking” represent this most when Peter Stone showcases his higher vocal register in order to connect deeper with his lyrics.

“Seabreeze” serves as my favorite on this record. Mostly because it connects the deepest with the way we look at life and the loneliness we all can feel when we are stuck but ready for change. “Altar” is a record that will make you not only feel heard but seen. I commend Peter Stone’s way to show his vulnerability so effortlessly.
