Though this is an ultimately positive song, Wedd doesn’t shy away from acknowledging how damaging the low points of life can be. With lines like “I lost all I had” and “I felt lost most my days” he simply but poignantly expresses the hopeless feelings you experience when you are dissatisfied with your life. Despite this, Wedd expresses repeatedly throughout the song the importance of being able to “begin again.” Perhaps easier said than done, but an important phrase all the same. No one is stopping you from changing the things about your life that you don’t like, except maybe yourself. So when in doubt, find the strength to “begin again.”
The laid back arrangement of this song helps the full impact of the lyrics come through overtop the lovely, fluid acoustic guitars. When steady drums join this sonic landscape, it matches the building resolve Wedd is finding in himself to move forwards, make new friends, and cultivate hope and happiness in his life.
