Artist Interview: “Music Title” by Kelaska

Q: We love your songwriting! What first got you into music?

KELASKA: Thank you! When I was younger I would sing any chance I got. My Grandfather was always playing and writing his own songs, so I was exposed to that pretty early on.

Q: In your own words, how would you describe the music that you typically create?

KELASKA: To be honest I always have a hard time describing my music. I’d say it’s mostly just honest and a mix of all the different kinds of music I love.

Q: Walk us through your writing and production process in making “High and Low”.

KELASKA: I wrote High & Low last year and knew I wanted to release a great version of it. I was in the middle of making my first EP when I wrote it and decided to wait until that was finished before starting the creative process with it. I took the song to my producer, Mackenzie Christensen, and after brainstorming ideas we spent many hours trying to get it right. I had an idea in my head of where it should be and he really nailed it.

Q: A lot of our readers are artists who are working hard at their craft and wanting to get to the next level. What kind of advice would you give to other up and coming bands trying to get their names out there?

KELASKA: I would say to just keep going! It’s really hard to look at social media and see other people thriving or going viral on tiktok while you’re still grinding with little progress. Just remember it will happen when it’s supposed to. Don’t give up!

Q: What do you do when you AREN’T working on music?

KELASKA: I watch a lot of TV. That’s my guilty pleasure. I can spend hours binge watching it with the people I love. I also really enjoy baking!

Q: What is in the works for you?

KELASKA: I have a new song called Old Ghosts coming out at the end of July! I’m so excited for this one, it might be my favorite song I’ve ever made. I can’t wait for you to hear it!
