“Pogu” by Of The Orchard

I grew up in the 90’s and was a teenager in the early 2000’s. During this time, we saw the rise of bands like Good Charlotte, Jimmy Eat World, Fall Out Boy, Third Eye Blind, Matchbox Twenty, and Simple Plan. I really enjoyed the aforementioned bands growing up, so it was no surprise that I fell in love with Of The Orchard.

Of The Orchard reminds me a lot of the bands I mentioned before with their easy lyrics that relate perfectly to their target audience and catchy drum beats and guitar that’s perfect for air guitar. Yes, we still do that. They’re just a perfect blast-to-the-past group, especially with their song “Pogu” or the “pains of growing up.”

The song, which talks about how different things are now that we are adults, was released May 14, 2021. The opening lyrics literally say “wake up too tired. Can’t Wait to go back to sleep tonight.” Way to hit home with that, Of The Orchard. The band knows their audience, that is for sure.

There’s also a music video for “Pogu” which features millennials living their lives and still trying to connect with the kid that lives in each of us. Because these are the real pains of growing up. We don’t really believe that the 1990s were that long ago. And, honestly, they weren’t. They were a blip in the grand scheme of things and I think that’s what this song points to. How quickly things just go by and change on us.

So, obviously, my point is that you should definitely give this song a listen. Especially if you’re a millennial because it’ll really resonate with you. Follow Of The Orchard on their socials linked below and be sure to check out that music video up on YouTube, the original way to become famous overnight.
