“Music Is My Drug” by Under Delusion

Moscow-based synth rock project, Under Delusion, has taken off like a rocket since coming together only a few short years ago. Amassing a stream count exceeding 10 million across all platforms, they have made themselves known in their own community as well as garnering the attention of fans worldwide. As they enter the next chapter of this adventure, they reflect on their passion and reverence for their art and the journey it has taken them on in their newest, in arguably their most personal single to date, “Music Is My Drug.”

A flowing and psychedelic electric guitar over a few soft piano keys begins the piece, turning the ambiance into an entire experience as the musicians begin to build the world of their song around them. A hypnotic and trance-inducing beat then elevates the already energetic stakes of the piece as soft-spoken yet resonant vocals begin to introduce the narrative, opening with the words “Life is sweet and sour, and I’m so seducible to almost every sin.”

The artists don’t simply tell us why they feel creating music is so important to them, they show it. With a mesmerizing flow and instrumental beat, they take us on a journey through their minds, set to an upbeat and danceable tune before lyrically reflecting on this passion with lines such as “Music is my drug. I don’t want to stop before I tell my story.”

This homage to their passions and how deeply it intertwines with their identities on a fundamental level is clear as day and serves as nothing short of an inspiration for all who hold music close to their heart.
