“Downstairs” by Emma Miller

“Downstairs” is one of those songs that instantly makes you feel something. Emma Miller showcases not only her talent in songwriting but her immensely dynamic vocals in this new release. Her emotion is directly correlated to the way she presents the lyrics and she sings them as if they were coming straight from her personal journey.

“Downstairs” is a song about losing yourself in the life that you currently have. Emma Miller connects with the feeling of loneliness by using the metaphor of going downstairs in an empty house, feeling the space is too big for just one. I found this song beautifully resonating to the human emotions that come with loneliness and appreciate the artist for bringing those feelings to life.

Emma Miller’s vocal tone is simply perfect. There are no notes to be taken when it comes to her immense range and strong pitch work. She really knows when to hold back and when to go deeper within her vocal harmonies in order to get the emotions across in her storytelling.

“Downstairs” will be a song that can stick with you long after it’s done. In my opinion, the world needs more of these songs. They are the kind that really open up the gap for connecting with humanity through feelings of loneliness and change.
