“Echoes of the Season“ by Grey Duck Music

The holiday season is approaching fast, and that means it’s time to turn on the holiday classics that set the mood for the joy and love that seems to always be in the air this time of year. “Echoes of the Season” by Grey Duck Music is the perfect album for any setting during the holidays. Whether you’re decorating your house, sitting with family by the fire, or opening a special present on Christmas day, this cozy collection of holiday classics is the soundtrack for you.

This album contains eleven interpretations of classic holiday songs in a lovely jazz style, such as “Angels We Have Heard on High” and “Deck the Halls.” Rather than vocals, though, the main melodies are mostly played by brass or woodwind instruments like saxophone. These lead instruments add a certain warmth to the songs, and trilling pianos and calm swaying drums set the scene nicely for those performances. These elements all interact beautifully to create a calming landscape of holiday cheer.

These tunes were actually originally crafted for some of the Christmas movies on Lifetime and Hallmark, and you can hear the welcoming magic of those movies in these songs, making it easy to picture the snowy Christmas tree farms or small town celebrations common in those comforting movies. This album easily gets you in the mood for the tender happiness of the holidays, and there is even a version of “Auld Lang Syne” to keep the joy going after Christmas and into the New Year.
