“LOVE LAVIDA“ by Proklaim

“LOVE LAVIDA” by Proklaim is a compelling hip hop track that demonstrates Proklaim’s impressive ability to blend different styles and experiment with his own sound. Much of Proklaim’s music has hip hop roots, but in “LOVE LAVIDA” he worked to capture Caribbean Latino and West African sonics without straying too far from that hip hop sound. The track was born out of an interesting reggaeton beat that Proklaim found online, and the knowledge that he grabbed this beat and then put his own spin on top of it makes the song all the more impressive. 

“LOVE LAVIDA,” which translates to “love life,” has two main sections throughout the song. The fast, repetitive rap melodies in the verses have slight shifts in energy and rhythm to keep you intrigued, but for the most part remain steady and captivating to allow you to focus on the lyrics. In contrast, the melodic choruses have overlapping and layered vocals, letting in some dynamic ear candy that will have you grooving. The steady beat carries you through the song as a unique synth texture pulses in and out of the arrangement.

Lyrics like “number one is when it’s said and done, it’s on you” demonstrate the way that Proklaim values “mental fortitude and peace.” He is not one to play victim, instead taking responsibility for his actions and desires because he knows that he is responsible for creating the life he wants. He sings “keeping it real, my friend” to inspire the listener to reach that realization too.
