“Moments” by Fine Life is an alluring alternative rock track with siren-like melodies and heavy production that pulls you in from the first beat, and doesn’t let you go until the last. Fine Life is made up of Elise Levin and Kritty Kesoglides, and the artistic chemistry this pair has is palpable in the riveting interplay between each element of the arrangement. This duo from New York City is not afraid to experiment with their sound, effortlessly setting themselves apart from the crowd.
Most of the track is built by the enveloping synths and a heavy beat, with little piano melodies and huge electric guitar solos providing moments of intrigue. The powerful vocal is the standout element of the track, moving from low and sultry to high and pining to rhythmic and playful. This dynamic performance mirrors the emotions the narrator is going through as she works to let go of control and give into her instincts to be with the person she is singing about. Lines like “wanting you more and more each moment” and “visions of ecstasy” tell us how badly she wants this person, and when she finally gives in, it is immensely satisfying.
The energy rises and falls throughout the song, with the drums sometimes cutting out and other times hitting rapidly. Before the invigorating electric guitar solos, the kick drum hits rapidly to build anticipation, and the solo certainly delivers as it soars across the arrangement. “Moment” is an impactful reminder to us all that living in the moment, especially with someone we have a connection with, is truly something special.
