“Soft Delusion” by Mister Rabbit is an alt rock song with a classic 90s feel that immediately hooks you on its catchy groove. In this track, Mister Rabbit explores all of the conflicting feelings that come with trying to gain closure from a past relationship. Anyone who has gone through a breakup knows how strange it can be- one day you’re completely fine, another day you’re full of regret. “Soft Delusion” deals with the idea that you can fantasize about that past relationship while accepting that you can’t get it back. Lines like “it’s a bitter fantasy” represent how the reminiscences over this past relationship are caught somewhere between a “memory and a dream.” 

The vocal delivery is laid back yet emotional, and the instrumentation in “Soft Delusion” has a riveting live feel, making it seem like you are right there in the room with the band. Acoustic guitar strumming lays the groundwork for the rhythm, along with the steady, swaying drums. Moments of electric guitar ear candy, as well as an electric solo, weave their way through the arrangement, effortlessly upping the energy. Moments of sparseness in the production set up a satisfying drop back into the full instrumentation, displaying Mister Rabbit’s aptitude for crafting a fun sonic journey.
