Singer-songwriter Pablo Langaine’s latest EP, “Nostalgia,” is a genre-fusing masterpiece that encapsulates his one-of-a-kind sound. His music, a unique take on Latin American folklore with elements of shoegaze, indie, and synth rock, among other genres, offers listeners a fresh and unique experience.
Langaine’s title choice of “Nostalgia” is perfect, as it mirrors the melancholic, yet hopeful feeling that resonates with nostalgia. His music captures the overwhelming emotions associated with memories of childhood, past relationships, or lost loved ones. Langaine’s artistry beautifully encapsulates the spectrum of human emotions–love, loss, hope, and sadness.
“Nostalgia” opens up with “Alucinaciones,” which has an almost foreboding melody. At the same time, the song has a serene, calming aura to it as well, perfectly capturing the overwhelming feeling of nostalgia. Pablo’s vocals are sung softly in Spanish, highlighting his angelic sound. Following “Alucinaciones” is “Another Chance,” which opens up with an electronic piano tune. Langaine’s vocals–this time sung in English–are powerful. As the background music intensifies, with guitar and drums, Langaine sings about the immense and powerful longing for another chance with someone from his past. The lyrics, “another chance to be with you,” are sung repeatedly, echoing through the addictive melody.
The remaining tracks on the EP are a testament to Pablo’s versatility, offering a diverse range of sounds from electronic to acoustic to hard rock. “Enero 5” presents a laid-back, acoustic vibe, while “Nostalgia” sounds like a full-on shoegaze tune, due to its almost atmospheric ambience. The final song, “Y Al Final,” serves as a sentimental conclusion to the EP and the relationship that Langaine yearns for, but now accepts its ending.
The acclaimed composer, producer, and songwriter is no stranger to creating music. Some of his many credits include the films Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and Red Dead Redemption 2. His credits also range to television shows, including The Monsters (Disney+) and The Cleaning Lady (PBS). 2025 will be a milestone year for Pablo Langaine, as he is set to release six new albums and two singles. Be on the lookout, as he is just getting started!
