Proving that the well of their creative inspiration is nowhere near dry, Bristol alt-rock outfit Chandra has emerged from the studio yet again with another hit for their rapidly growing fanbase. Their third musical release of the year, the band continues to make strides in bringing their work to the world and spreading their uplifting sense of positivity to everyone within earshot. Their latest single, “Winners” embodies the artists’ positive spirit of optimism in the face of adversity and their belief that everything will work out the way it should.
An ascending scale in an electronic embellishment begins the piece as a percussive eruption plays to introduce the vocals in the first few notes. The music wastes no time getting to the thesis as the story opens with the track’s titular lyrics “We will be, we will be winners” repeating, growing in intensity and emotional resonance with every iteration. Immediately, we are thrown into a story of redemption and putting our focus toward the future as the inspirational narrative plays out. Rhythmic and comforting to its core, the upbeat musicality of the track staunchly vehicles the feelings it strives to promote.
A summer anthem for the underrepresented, the track champions the values that we have all come to love from this lovable group. With every playthrough, we feel a little more inspired to take their message to heart and to not be discouraged by hiccups in the road, but to look toward the future we hope to build around us, even on our darkest days.
