Q: “Higher” gives off a dance-in-the-morning vibe. What was the inspiration for it?
AIBAI: I had been listening to a lot of french electronic music which led to me making the song “Higher”. I wanted to create a song that was catchy and fun to dance to but also unique in a way. To add some uniqueness, I sampled my roommates and pets. Whether it was a bark or a meow, or my roommates saying random words, I was able to incorporate it into the song!
Q: What is your favorite track off Disconnected?
AIBAI: This is a tough question because I like all the tracks for different reasons. I would say Peaches or Higher are my favorite though.
Q: Can you tell us a bit about your creative process? Where do your ideas typically come from?
AIBAI: It is hard for me to just sit down and write during a specific given time. Creativity for me comes at the most random times whether it’s late at night after watching a tv show, or while I am on a hike. Oftentimes, I try to listen to my favorite artists or find new music to listen to for inspiration. When starting a song, I typically start with a melody. I then add harmonies and all sorts of different sounds creating multiple layers until it sounds full.
Q: Do you have any advice for those wanting to get into the music industry?
AIBAI: I think that starting can be the hardest part, but once you make your first song the rest will come. Connections, patience, hard work, dedication, passion, and being true to myself have gotten me a long way.
Q: What’s your go-to happy song?
AIBAI: Any of Goth Babe’s songs are honestly great to throw on when you need something happy to listen to!
Q: What has been one of the biggest highlights of your music career so far?
AIBAI: I think one of the best highlights was after a show I played, a couple of girls came up to me and told me how much they enjoyed my music and how they have been supporting me from the start. That meant a lot to me. It is nice knowing that real people are hearing my music and that it is making an impact!
