UK-based independent and self-produced rock act Shaun Lewis has made it clear to their fans that the passion they have for their craft is boundless. Releasing a steady stream of hits over the year so far, fans of the project have had their ears full with opportunities to immerse themselves in the world of their music as the months have gone by. Their new EP “SL EP 2” showcases their proclivities for a heavy sound and memorable instrumental hooks in a nuanced and incredible way. Highlighted by its first track “Holding Up The World,” the standout single introduces the record with passion and energy that anchors the emotional essence of the project itself.
The piece begins with a rambunctious electric guitar introduction, immediately setting the tone and defining the world of the music. As the percussion enters and magnifies the tonal vivacity, a screech from the amplifier slowly increases in volume and the song takes flight. Culminating in a lively ambiance with a hypnotically rhythmic melody, the track immediately grabs our attention. As the vocals enter, we feel the passion coming from the artists’ lips as they begin the narrative with the opening line “Come on, it’ll be alright as you slip into the light.”
Culminating in a thrilling and full-bodied listening experience, “Holding Up The World” threads the needle between nostalgic classic punk and modern rock. We feel the adrenaline flowing through our veins from the first notes and a sustained sense of enthusiasm throughout the music. An incredible example of the English underground scene, fans can only wait with anticipation to see what this project could possibly have coming down the pipeline.
