Ever ambitious, Rauly dropped his third single of 2022, “Thinkin Bout It”, on March 25. While the singer and songwriter typically works with Charlie Heat’s production team, including Matthew “Busco” Buscarino, he produced “Thinkin Bout It” fully on his own.
This song is just so relatable. Have you ever been in a relationship that just was not healthy or good for you? Most of us have, of course. That’s kind of what this song is all about and it even comes across in the music video where we see Rauly in therapy. You have to talk these things out with someone, right? Definitely if there is a toxic aspect of the relationship.
What I love most about this song is how its simple beat is what pulls you in to start with. You know it is going to be something catchy and fun just from the intro. It seems that happier songs about heartbreak are the new big thing and I am here for it. There is no point in wallowing in the pain too much, right? Especially when there is a good reason for not staying in a relationship, like deception or gaslighting. If you can realize you are better off, then why not have a happier song to jam out to that still conveys loss?

Q&A with Rauly
Q: “Thinkin Bout It” is so catchy! We love it. Can you tell us a bit about what inspired the song?
RAULY: The song was inspired by a breakup I was going through a couple years ago. It definitely helped me get through the emotions I was feeling and realize I was better off without them. I hope it does the same for you!
Q: You’ve worked with Charlie Heat’s production team, mostly Charlie Heat and Busco. What was that like?
RAULY: It’s been great working with them! I’ve known them for about a year now, and we’ve made so many songs together. It’s awesome to work with producers who have worked with so many great artists and they help me out a lot. We got the dream team going right now, and I’m really excited to release all of the songs we’ve made.
Q: “Thinkin Bout It” is your first time producing a song on your own, right? What was that like?
RAULY: Well it all started in high school when I would write songs on my guitar. I would record myself singing and playing guitar but never added drums or other instruments. It was cool to finally fully produce a song and I will definitely be doing it in the future.
Q: You were obtaining a Masters degree in Finance and Analytics, so did you ever think you would get into the music industry as a performer?
RAULY: I’ve wanted to be a performer since I was very young. I decided to get my Masters degree because I thought it would be good for my future and give me a little more time to make music. I worked on music almost every day while I was getting my Masters and I think it was that work I did that got me my break into the industry.
Q: What was your favorite moment in making the music video for “Thinkin Bout It”?
RAULY: My favorite moments were definitely on the beach. We actually shot at my favorite beach that I would go to all the time in high school. It was an awesome full-circle moment.
Q: What are your top three karaoke night songs?
RAULY: Under The Bridge by Red Hot Chili Peppers, Location by Khalid, and What I Got by Sublime
