When it comes to the universe, there is still a lot we just don’t know. We’re more likely to reach the deepest parts of the ocean before the outer rim of space in our lifetime but it is that mystery that keeps our fascination with everything outside of our atmosphere going strong. So strong that some, like Leonardo Barilaro, have found a way to blend their creative side with their interstellar interests. Dubbed The Space Pianist, Leonardo Barilaro has released a handful of space-centric EPs and plenty of singles since 2020, including one of his latest, “100 Days.”

“100 Days” encapsulates a lot of movement and drama. When one thinks of space and the epic vastness, it can be…perhaps a daunting silence, but Leonardo Barilaro manages to bring forth the adventure of space exploration. At least that is how I felt as “100 Days” had these bursting moments that made me feel like I was in the midst of a ‘Star Wars’ movie of sorts. Leonardo Barilaro didn’t pen this with Luke and Leia in mind though. Instead, he notes that this song in particular was about the trust one has to have in themselves and their work because the payoff won’t always be instantaneous. A sound lesson as social media has sort of warped what reality is. Reality is based in a process, and we have to trust that.

Outside of music, Leonardo Barilaro is an aerospace engineer. Blending the scientific side of his mind with the creative, he paints the night sky with his galactic pianist impressions. Something he’s managed to do masterfully for the past two years. It is like once he got started, he just had a plethora to share with the world, and did so.
