“On The Cusp” by Tess Liautaud

There’s a hurricane inside my head at any given moment with a laundry list of things to do, but I was able to find a few minutes of peace when I pressed play on “On The Cusp” by Tess Liautaud. There was a calming sensation that washed over me due to her sincere vocals and the way she softly approaches every note throughout.

“On The Cusp” is a lengthy treat that glides through with ease for over three minutes before things start to pick up. Before the change of pace, you’re engulfed by a tender performance that you can instantly tell comes from Tess Liautaud’s heart. Then for that moment where the gears change, we go from this light folk track to one that blends a bit of country into the mix much like something you’d hear from The Chicks’ Natalie Maines when she goes for more of an acoustic punch.

Before settling in New Zealand, Tess Liautaud spent time all over the world including New York City and Liverpool. Soon enough, she found herself a regular in Paris, France. A regular in the local scene there, she spent most nights performing throughout the city. After years of playing live, she’s finally setting her sights on new ventures. She kicked off 2022 with her debut single, “Breezy As.” A little more vibrant in beat compared to the earnest ways of her latest. Both will be available on her debut album, set to drop on June 17th.

To hear both, make sure to check Tess Liautaud out on all major music and streaming platforms today.
