“Faithless Lover” by Reb Fountain

With an ethereal and dream-like sound, Reb Fountain returns with her powerful single “Faithless Lover.” The New Zealand singer has already made huge strides in her career including being featured in Rolling Stone, headlining a sold-out tour, and winning awards for her previous releases. “Faithless Lover” was self-written and produced with longtime collaborator Dave Khan under her label Flying Nun Records.

The song “Faithless Lover” is cinematic in every sense of the word. Fountain has a knack for being very performative, in just the way she sings. Her smooth and sultry voice is captivating and leaves you hanging on every word.

The single begins stripped with minimal production and vocals, waiting for the second verse to begin a steady build. Closing the piece out are “Faithless lover, I found faith in my soul.” Which flips the hook around, instead of constantly waiting for her lover to prove themselves, she found faith in herself.

When asked what the song means to her, Fountain shared, “Faithless Lover tells a tale of mutiny; coming alive to oneself – one’s place in the story – in vulnerability and beyond fear. I want that; to transform the stories that bind us and to wake up in rebellion.”

“Faithless Lover” is accompanied by an astonishing video directed by Lola Fountain-Best. The music video was shot on 16mm film to further drive home the cinematic feeling of the production. It is an amazing watch and the thought and planning that went into the process shines throughout each detail.

So be sure to listen to “Faithless Lover” and watch the music video that goes along with it!
