Artist Interview: “all eyez” by Proklaim

Q: What was the inspiration behind “all eyez”?

PROKLAIM: It was a pretty spontaneous song to create. I came across the beat as I am always online looking for beats. The beat title was all eyes and I decided to take that direction in theme and kind of be aiming at kind of drawing listers’ attention to things I think are of value…like “hey, look there”..

Q: As artists, what are some challenges you had to overcome to get to where you are in your musical journey?

PROKLAIM: All the post recording things in a production like getting sound engineers and promotion can be a challenge however the genuine love for the artform keeps me constantly excited to keep moving.

Q: The production is KILLING. Walk us through your creative process for “all eyez”!

PROKLAIM: The creative process was simple: as soon as I heard the beat, I wrote to it. For the chorus I just adlib the lines that came to mind and recorded them.

Q: If you were stranded on a desert island and could only take one song or album to listen to, what would it be?

PROKLAIM: It’s a tough one. It would be between Cece Winans “Goodness of GOD ” or Bob Marley’s “Roots Rick Reggae ”..

Q: Who would you most like to collaborate with, if it could be anyone in the world?

PROKLAIM: An artist I’d like to collaborate with would be Lauryn Hill..another would be Nas.

Q: What’s coming up next for you?

PROKLAIM: I would like to continue on this journey. During this next phase of my journey I’d like to collaborate with artists from across the globe and especially those I grew up listening to and grow a broader listening audience.
