Blending introspective writing with hopeful melodies, Sukh has released their new track “Faith.” The song was a lead single for his latest album Heading East, which was released on March 7th, 2024. The project was inspired by the Manchester based artist’s experience with long term relationships and the nature of them. Alongside his music career, Sukh also works as a doctor. His work as a doctor and in hospital wards it sparked his second album Galactic Love Machine that he released in October 2018. Sukh has already been featured on BBC Introducing and supported acts like Basia Bulat and Nizlopi.
“Faith” has a very contemporary pop feel to it. Sukh cites influences like Vampire Weekend, but one can also hear inspiration from Coldplay. The instrumentals are sharp and consistent, allowing Sukh’s conversational melody to take hold of the listening. The reverb of the electric guitars and keys in the distance continue to build this hopeful sound. Sukh has a clean and vulnerable voice, pouring his heart out to the lover on the track.
The chorus paints a beautiful picture of love and tragedy, “Everything everything must / Everything out of the dust / You dear / And I don’t know what I can give / But everything that I think / I / Will / Give / And I have no regrets / Do you remember the day we met?”
Overall, Sukh’s storytelling is strong and captivating. The production pairs beautifully with the message and heart he is trying to get across.
