Singer-songwriter Carson Ferris’ new single “Ghosts” is an electronic-pop track with heart. It’s a song that everyone can relate to, with its ultra-catchy melody and lyrics about toxic relationships or situations. The meaning behind the track is essential: to put yourself first. If someone does you wrong, they don’t deserve to be your friend–that doesn’t mean we can’t forgive the person, but we also don’t necessarily need to let them back in our life.
Every person deals with bad relationships, whether romantic or platonic. The toxicity that comes from these relationships is harmful. “Ghosts” does a remarkable job of discussing the feelings and emotions one goes through when leaving someone who isn’t good for you, even if you don’t want to. Aside from the lyrics, the synth and drum-heaviness of the track give “Ghosts” an irresistibly electrifying sound.
“Ghosts” is Carson’s first collaboration with producer Matthew Parker. At just fourteen years old, Carson already has an innate talent for songwriting and creating a song of shared emotions. When asked “Ghosts” is about, Carson said: “Ghosts is a song about letting go and moving on from situations and people that aren’t good for you. In the bridge, the lyrics say that moving on is the only way things can be ok. That’s definitely true. All that holding on to things like that will do is cause more resentment. Sometimes that can be really hard to do, but it’s a necessary part of life that we can all relate to.”
Carson Ferris is an emerging artist with a promising future. His talent has already been recognized, with an Honorable Mention in the Teen category for his song “Crazy with Unsigned” in 2023, and a finalist position for the best male artist in the International Acoustic Music Awards for his song “Drive Alone (Acoustic Version)”. With his new single “Ghosts”, Carson is set to make a significant impact in the music industry.
