Singer-songwriter Marina Ogalla’s new song, “Lost in Translation,” offers a unique perspective on the end of a relationship. The track is part of Marina’s latest EP, “All Alone,” a poignant exploration of heartbreak and its emotional aftermath. The EP, from start to finish, presents a narrative of love, loss, and heartbreak, with Marina’s distinctive voice and style adding a fresh angle to these all-too-familiar feelings of heartbreak.
“Lost in Translation” is a bittersweet track–Marina delves into the happy memories of the relationship, like talking for hours or singing along to the radio, but also isn’t naive to the eventual crash and burn. Throughout the song, she admits that the relationship was not doing well, often referring to “the last couple of months” as being particularly difficult. Marina discusses the many problems of the relationship, and how much was due to a lack of communication and the two getting “lost in translation.”
Marina’s emotional journey is palpable throughout the EP, culminating in her acceptance of the relationship’s end in “Lost in Translation.” Despite her heartbreak, the track’s upbeat melody and introspective lyrics about the differences between two people underscore the complexity of relationships and the potential for miscommunication. Even if two people love each other more than anything, compatibility is significant, and love is often not enough. This bittersweet acceptance is beautifully highlighted within Marina’s music.
“Lost in Translation” is available now, on major music streaming platforms.
