The Armchair Captains present a groovy, jazz and indie rock based song with their newest release. “Outside” has a special sound that feels unique to them. The band clearly knows how to experiment with strong moments of reflection within not only vocals but instrumentals. The overall vibe of this song is easily captured by the listener.
I simply loved the jazz influenced instrumentation of the saxophone and really admired the arrangements that accompanied it. The piano is a great touch and really helps create the vibe that this song showcases to the audience. The Armchair Captain’s sound is so unique to them and that’s what makes it become such a treat to our ears.
“Outside” is a song about finding peace actually inside. The contrast meaning of this song is another reason that makes it so wonderful. This song talks about the ways to enjoy yourself inside and really captures the essence of a snowy winter day and how staying inside emulates coziness.
The Armchair Captains really have a way with their instrumentals. The saxophone and trumpet solo after the bridge is simply angelic and is something the listener could feel for moments after it’s over. I loved the lengthiness of this song and never wanted it to end.
