“Birdhouse” by Josh Jensen

Seattle-based singer-songwriter Josh Jensen’s musical tenure has given him opportunities to experiment extensively with his art, learning more about their craft every step of the way. An artist with several decades of experience in the recording studio, their passions have led them back to their roots with the release of their latest single “Birdhouse” as Jensen returns to his musical roots of homespun classics. An upbeat and jovial anthem, he makes great strides in fortifying his creative legacy with this new release.

Initially beginning life as a poem, Jensen felt compelled to give his words a tune and the idea took flight. On creating “Birdhouse,” Jensen said, “putting that poem to music really gave the story life.” This sentiment proved true upon recording as he felt compelled to invite those closest to him into the studio to participate in the recording.

The piece opens with an audio representation of the feelings this music strives to foster. A chorus of rapturous cheers introduces a fast-paced series of plucked strings and a hypnotic percussive beat and the song’s identity becomes apparent. Jensen’s vocals appear soon after and begin the narrative with the opening line “Never thought I’d fly again to this side of town. I’m picking up the pieces ‘till they’re all found.”

The artist’s vocal tambour commands listeners’ attention throughout the track and portrays a sense of charisma throughout the recording. The sense of authenticity Jensen conveys with his delivery highlights the single and compliments the emotional weight of the lyrics with every word.
