“Neon Nashville Night“ by Adam Foster

Singer-songwriter Adam Foster has a new album, “Neon Nashville Night,” a genre-fusing, uplifting body of art. The album consists of twelve songs that will get listeners up and dancing–with some softer, ballad-type songs in between, making for a unique mix of sounds.

“Neon Nashville Night” begins with the instrumental, cinematic-like “Cold Open.” The song consists of a bittersweet tune heard on the piano, with guitar and chimes popping in and out, giving a softness to the album. This quiet, slow-building song quickly takes a turn with a cover of the rockabilly group Stray Cats’ “Rock This Town,” an exciting track on which Adams puts his distinctive twist. Following this is “Dirty City,” a song with a country twang that feels so nostalgic due to its 1950s vibe, yet simultaneously has such a modern twist.

Songs like “Jumpin Jack Flash” and “Charming Lies” feature a harmonica and softer instrumental, highlighting Adam’s unique vocals. These songs let the instrumental take a back seat (while still remaining strong) while allowing Adam’s vocals to shine. The love ballad “River of Tears” is an emotional track that transports listeners back to an old-time jazz bar, while another cover, “Peggy Sue,” adds an exhilarating feeling. In contrast, the final song on the album, “Closing Credits,” ends with a similar vibe as the beginning, with its Pink Floyd-esque instrumental entrancing listeners in a spacey haze.

Originally from Albany, NY, Foster is no stranger to the music business. He’s been performing since he was a teenager, from little cafes and bars to festivals around the United States. He has also released many albums, including his self-titled debut album (2004). Others include “Dreamer’s Escape” (2006), “Little Tornadoes” (2011), “Adam Foster and the Phantoms” (2014), “Adam and the Explorers” (2017), “Dirty City” (2019), and “Late Bloomer” (2022).

The first single from Adam’s upcoming album, “Charming Lies,” is out today. Keep a lookout for the entire album release on November 15th.
