It’s that strange selective memory that happens when you love someone- even though logically you know the relationship is bad for you, all of those reasons seem to fade in the face of your feelings for the other person. Lines like “recognize all your issues in the limelight, you don’t like when I’m in control” and “you shame me for being who I wanna be” show mulahbae waking up to this fact and starting to find his resolve to not let this person back in.
Tense production, unpredictable chords, and distorted vocal effects add to the feelings of confusion and desperation found in the storytelling. mulahbae has a strong artistic vision and effectively brings the listener into his story as all of these details converge to create a complex sonic landscape that matches the complex relationship.
