This unnerving and captivating atmosphere sets the tone for the transcendent sounds to follow in the rest of the album. Aptly named “Otherworld,” this opening track is the perfect introduction to Cordes’ style.
Throughout the album, strings, synths, and vocal textures dance and blend to form the landscape of “Singularity.” From track to track, the tone may shift from joyous and orchestral to thoughtful and cinematic, yet the experience remains cohesive the whole time. The absence of drums allows these tracks to truly act as a soundscape, allowing the listener to sink into the sonics and forget about reality for a while. The closing track, “Aurora,” uses orchestral sounding synths and oscillating textures that surround you to provide a slow and satisfying journey through the end of this album.
