Amid the chaos and discomfort of a society with decreasing altruism, Onism E sings of the importance of finding peace in a loved one. The song opens with the lines “why am I laughing, why am I crying, am I living or just dying?” to show how lost the narrator feels. In the chorus, she asks of her love “can I call you home?” This simple, yet deeply emotional question tells us of the security she is seeking. She feels lost within herself, and is looking outwards towards this metaphorical home to help bring her back.
“Call You Home” begins with anticipatory bass and building drums, then the melodic electric guitar comes in and provides an addictive ear candy line. When the verse begins, everything drops out but the drums, bass, and vocal, adding intimacy as the themes of the song are introduced. The rise and fall of energy throughout the song is impactful, as the sparse introspective verses are contrasted with the dense, emotional chorus full of vulnerability and conviction over the longing to call this person home.
