“Letting Go“ by David Buchs

“Letting Go” by David Buchs is a poignant, three song EP that takes the listener through ambient soundscapes and immersive arrangements. Buchs, a composer and producer with an ear for creating relaxing instrumental music, was inspired to make this EP after undergoing a period of personal growth and reflection. He found that parting with his critical inner monologue allowed love and gratitude to take the center stage in this life. This emotional and life changing journey is reflected in the ethereal atmospheres of this EP.

Swirling synths and visceral strings are the main components of these arrangements, sometimes offering drawn out, floating atmospheres, while playing captivating melodies at other points. The slight shifts in energy throughout these tracks allow for a dynamic sonic journey that heightens tension and then slowly brings you back down. You can feel the strong emotions of each element in your heart, tugging at those introspective thoughts that might not come to the surface very often. Each track is cohesive and complimentary to the others, but is also able to stand on its own and tell a unique story. 

The title track, “Letting Go,” sees cello sliding across the song, offering a performance that is both mournful and hopeful, allowing the listener to settle in and feel whatever emotions this may bring up for them. Uniquely textured synths dance their way in and out of the song, catching your ear in just the right way. Buchs’ arrangements are slow and thoughtful, with heavenly chords and sweeping melodies that encourage self-reflection and mindfulness.
