Sarmaria, originally from Indonesia but now based in Berlin, Germany, has started her musical career off with a bang with “Good Feeling”. Innocent and sweet but with an intense passion pushing the songs clever chord voicings along marks this single a promising glimpse of the upcoming artists future. The melody’s catchy and infectious, sticking with you long after you’ve finished listening. The song blossomed from Sarmaria’s intense longing for relaxation, not just for herself but those surrounding her too during difficult times.
Her musical inspirations range from Jazz and Blues (Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, and Melody Gardot ) to R&B and Soul (Jill Scott, Lauryn Hill, and Lianne La Havas). The tracks simple instrumentation adds a lot of character to the song. Likewise, the casual production gives the song a raw but soothing feel, that helps get its message across. Lyrically and vocally, Sarmaria has nailed the relaxing vibe she was going for with surreal ease.
