“Le Vol” by Jonathan Grow

While classical music may not be as mainstream as hip hop and rock, one cannot deny the masterful creativity that comes with it. To take the heart and emotion you are feeling and put that into a song that is void of words? I mean, it takes a true craftsman, a musically inclined mind, to do so. Which leads us to Jonathan Grow and his latest, “Le Vol.”

Almost several minutes long, “Le Vol” takes listeners on an audible journey through a soundscape that has hills and valleys. Every couple of minutes, a new chapter of this story unfolds and you want nothing more than to hurriedly turn the page to find out what is to come. What I appreciate about music like this, these neoclassical moments, is that you listen with more than your ears. You have to dive into your imagination and in many ways, construct your own scenes that fit the emotion of the musical narrative Grow presents. For me there was a mix of dramatics and somber theatrics that gave way to a very cinematic vibe.

Jonathan Grow is a maestro of the piano and a composer who has worked on music for screens both big and small. His solo releases date back a few years with his first single, 2019’s “A Travers En Ville.” Since then he’s released his debut album, ‘Stories About Her,’ in 2021, and a handful of singles, including his latest “Le Vol.”
