Q: What was your favorite moment creating “LIVE IT UP!”?
DONN CHII: My favorite moment had to be the lyrical creation process. It came together so easily and I already had an idea of what I wanted to do. The musical mood really allowed for the lyrics to flow easily.
Q: Was there a pivotal moment in your life when you decided to follow your path as a musician?
DONN CHII: Yes and no. I’ve always known that I wanted to do music but it wasn’t until 2015 that I decided to pursue it for myself and call myself “Donn Chii”. All my previous projects were in groups so I decided to take my chances on my own.
Q: As an artist, what are some challenges you had to overcome to get to where you are in your musical journey?
DONN CHII: The biggest challenge for me to overcome has been consistency. On your musical journey, you have to endure so much, it’s easy to get sidetracked or distracted. But great things happen when you put in the work and stay focused on what you want.
Q: What was the inspiration behind “LIVE IT UP!”?
DONN CHII: I wanted to make a fun and trendy song, like something you’d hear on TikTok. I got some of my influences from a few trendy songs and sounds but the idea was pretty organic. I like bridging the gap between music genres.
Q: My favorite part of making music is experimenting with different sounds! What is something you haven’t incorporated into your music but want to?
DONN CHII: I would love to incorporate more futuristic sounds into my music, like synth and ambient sounds. I’m still experimenting with a few different styles.
Q: What do you do when you AREN’T working on music?
DONN CHII: I’m a pretty simple human so I really enjoy playing video games in my free time. Currently spending a lot of time on my Nintendo Switch and watching documentaries!
