Almost everyone in life will have to deal with the universal experience of going through a breakup. The heartbreaking, confusing, and bittersweet emotions that one goes through are all tackled uniquely in alternative rock group The Big Bloom’s latest single, “Maybe.” Their distinct sound, a blend of jangly guitars, bass, and hard-hitting drums, delves into a relationship’s ups and downs, leading to an electrifying conclusion.
“Maybe” opens with a soul-stirring piano melody, instantly setting the song’s melancholy tone. The entrance of drums and guitar introduces a hard-rock edge to the single, while lead singer Sean Christ’s distinctive singing style infuses a punk-rock, almost early 2000s vibe that adds a layer of nostalgia.
Once Sean’s vocals arrive, the song is seamlessly woven together. About halfway through the track and again towards the end, Sean’s vocals echo, “Maybe it’s time I walk away.” These lyrics are ultimately overtaken by an intensifying guitar and drum-heavy solo, serving as a conclusion to both the song and the relationship.
The Big Bloom consists of talented musicians, including Sean Christ (Vocals, Guitar), David Americus (Guitar), John O’Keefe (Bass), and Michael Americus (Drums). “Maybe” was recorded at the group’s home studio and then mixed and mastered at the renowned Gravity Studios in Chicago. “Maybe” is available now on all major music streaming platforms.
