“Away We Go” by Alphonsine

Based in the Rocky Mountain town of Bolder Colorado, indie folk singer-songwriter Alphonsine has spent the better part of their life perfecting their craft and musical tastes. With a proclivity for creating soft and comforting melodies that underscore their memorable and introspective lyrical writing style, their music has earned a place in the hearts and minds of fans worldwide. As they release their latest album “Slow Drift,” the breadth of the artist’s talent is undeniable in every way. Anchored by the introductory single on the record, “Away We Go” the track starts the album off on a sentimental note as we learn to feel alongside the artist with every verse.

The piece begins with a softly strummed banjo introduction that sets the tone as it grows in volume and enthusiasm throughout the introductory stanza. After a few bars of instrumental serenity build the world of the music around us, the artist’s vocals appear to begin the narrative with the opening line “Something is calling me from out beyond the mountains and the trees.” We immediately feel a sense of connection to the artist’s message and motivation to follow them along on this journey through the human condition.

Themes of serenity and homespun comfort are undeniable throughout the record and anxieties melt away with every note. The artist’s eclectic influences are put on full display with every verse as we see the old and new world influences blended together in their production. Honest, vulnerable, and welcoming in their writing and composition, the music leaves audiences with a sense of wholesome solace with every listen.
