“Talk to me“ by Marie Pratt

“Talk to me” by Marie Pratt is an inspiring anthem for anyone who has had to deal with someone ghosting them. This soulful R&B track shows Pratt coming to terms with being ghosted, and the difficult push and pull of caring about someone who seems unable to effectively communicate. Being ghosted is one of the worst feelings because you just never know what went wrong, and you can never fully get closure. With soothing vocals and uplifting rhythms, “Talk to me” offers a cathartic and catchy place to feel that frustration and try to let it go.

The chorus of this track has earworm melodies and pretty harmonies as Pratt sings “talk to me” over and over. The repeated nature of this line matches the desperation for the other person to just say something, anything, to show they care at all. Getting ghosted can feel like you’re talking to a wall, and you feel sillier and more offended as time goes on, but you still keep wishing that they would respond to you.

Pratt wants this person to talk to her, and says “I am listening” to encourage them, but at the same time knows she is worth more than this situation. Lines like “somebody is gonna be loving me better, much better than you” show her resolve changing, realizing she deserves to be treated better. The music video shows Pratt in sunny weather and colorful outfits, roller skating joyfully and expressing her personality, finding freedom in independence by detaching herself from this person.
