“Siren’s Lullaby” by Electric High

“Siren’s Lullaby” is an alternative rock track by Electric High, an innovative band that paints intense sonic landscapes with heavy drums and overpowering electric guitars. This track, a single from Electric High’s debut album, “Colorful White Lies,” uses these rocking instruments to tell the story of an attractive person distracting the narrator from focusing on his dreams. This “siren” vanishes all of the plans and determination from the narrator’s mind, as it is much more fun to focus on a passing attraction than things that require hard work.

High energy, staccato guitars open the song and continue to pulse with tension throughout the track. These guitars lighten up for a more free flowing chorus that takes the listener to new heights. Electric High has a clear grip on the most satisfying way to provide a sonic journey to the listener, with the changes in arrangements and adjustments to melody from section to section providing satisfying surprises that make the song a truly fun time.

Lyrics like “darling, you blind my eyes” tells us how enveloped the narrator has become in this siren’s song, blind and deaf to anything that does not concern this person. But, he doesn’t seem to mind, because being enveloped in this dream feels so good. Hypnotic legato melodies mirror the song a siren may sing, captivating the listener in equal measure to how the narrator has been captivated. At the end of the song the guitar solo moves into the right ear, and the vocal into the left, as a swooshing riser takes over the arrangement for a disorienting end to “Siren’s Lullaby.”
