Lyrically, “APHANTASIA” delves into a world in which illusion and truth mirror one another, sometimes blending too closely, at times making the two difficult to distinguish.
Aphantasia, by definition, is a condition in which someone can’t visualize mental images – meaning they cannot picture objects, faces, or scenes in their mind. For those who don’t have this rare condition, the mental pictures and scenarios we create in our heads can sometimes become real to us. Lyrically, “APHANTASIA” delves into these blurred lines between reality and imagination: “Here I am facing the truth / beyond all imagination and fear / Illusion, my friend and enemy, it’s time to let go.” These are the opening lyrics in the track, immediately setting the stage for a thrilling, haunting introduction, leaving listeners intrigued and captivated by the unique sound of Yellow Majesty.
Along with Haj-Bolouri and Rubin, “APHANTASIA” was created in collaboration with Aaron Rubin (Blink 182), mixed by Rubin and mastered by Maor Appelbaum (Faith No More, Sepultura, Yes). The artwork was created by visual artist Dima Drjuchin, which serves the same dreamy, somewhat psychedelic tone of the track.
