Artist Interview: “Fly (Feat. Luma)” by Jason McKenzy

Q: “Fly” is about seeing the light in life again after losing someone dear to your heart. How was the creative process for this song?

JASON: Well for me personally I don’t like to talk much about my feelings I rather keep them for myself but after o was open and made the record it felt kinda good to know that this song could have the potential to help others with the same problemsiter, who was also my housemate and the song came from there.

Q: What was the reason that you chose Luma to bring this song to life?

JASON: Well she’s very talented to start her writing vocals just a pleasant voice to Listen to and I thought she would be awesome for this record because she knows how bring over emotions in her vocals.

Q: Can you tell us more about your experience working with her?

JASON: Well I’m very happy working with luma . She even had produced her own vocal what’s rare for most vocalist she as a matter of fact I wasn’t even in the studio when she recorded it she’s very independent what’s a great plus point because that way she can edit her vocal the way she wants to have it. It is also very efficient.

Q: What are your musical influences?

JASON: Honestly I don’t listen to electronic music besides for getting a show will look up new records. Most of the time I listen to Johnny cash type of music. But if I think about electronic music diplo marshmello dj snake and Skrillex would be the most influential example for me

Q: Elaborate on the impact multi-cultural environment has on your music?

JASON: Well I always try to make different stuff for example I make everything regarding gerne so that’s means that most of the poeple will have some record of me they like.

Q: Can you tell us more about VC Record?

JASON: This label started because I wanted to honor my late grandfather therefore I named it with his initials. Also to be free because most labels will put in a box and I don’t like that I’m bored very quickly so for me it’s important to swing around Gernes . And with having my own label I can do whatever I want to do like my name says Jason McKenzy a EDM outlaw.
