Q: I love the energy in “Last Breath”! Can you tell us more about the song?
COLLIN: After my latest song release “Enemy”, I wanted to make something that had more of a feel good tone to it. I wanted to make a song that would be good to play at a wedding. I didn’t quite know how to start it, so my girlfriend asked me “If there was one thing you could tell me, what would it be?” I said “well I would tell you that I love you. Even if it’d be the last thing I could say.” She responded, “Base it off of what you just said.” The song evolved from there.
Q: What inspired you to pursue music in the first place?
COLLIN: I’ve always had a great love of music but I never thought I could make it into a career choice. I grew up with a family that was very “traditional”. In that, you went to school, move on to college, get a white-collar job and one day retire. That’s what worked for them so that’s what I was taught, but something about that just didn’t feel right for me. I’ve always felt like I was meant to do something more. I was involved in a lot of sports growing up and I thought maybe I can do something professionally, but after 8 years I felt this was not what I wanted as my life’s work. It was then that I decided to take my passion for music and turn it into my way of living.
Q: You moved to Los Angeles from Chicago to pursue your singing career. How do you like Los Angeles so far?
COLLIN: There is no place like Los Angeles. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows but it is definitely worth the hustle and grinds. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, I was forced to move back to Chicago. However, with things slowly but surely easing up I am looking forward to moving back soon.
Q: What are some challenges you faced pursuing your music dream?
COLLIN: It has been anything but easy pursuing the music industry. I have auditioned for numerous music shows and have been sent home. Just getting people to listen has also been a challenge. As an artist, all you want is for people to listen. Your career is dependent on people who stream your music. A lot of adversity with setbacks and do-overs. However, no matter how hard it gets I wouldn’t change it for the world. It’s only a matter of time before my number is called and I can’t wait to show everyone what I have in store.
Q: Who do you listen to these days?
COLLIN: Lately I’ve been listening to Chris Brown, Post Malone, and Bieber. Absolute genius’s with their craft.
Q: I would love to learn more about your work. What are you currently working on / or anything exciting for us to look forward to?
COLLIN: Right now I am currently working on a new EP. I recently released a new song off the project called “Last Breath”. It is available on all music platforms. My music has definitely evolved since my last EP release in 2017. I’m excited and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it when it comes out!
